the Desired Success of Linux
Where can't is NOT an option.

"I didn't develop Linux, I just try to make it better"

When a REDHAT Engineer tells you that you created a very useful product that has merit and means something...

The first thing he asked,
"Do you want to sell it"

Help Spread the Word... LINUX!

Description: DSoL is a Linux operating system based on a modified version of Fedora Core. "But you can do this to any OS that use ext2 like RHEL. I have not try to use any other filesystem". That’s one third the size of a normal install. Our mission at DSoL is to help Network Administrators and technicians manage their Linux networks more efficiently and reliably. DSoL come with many admin utilities (GParted, Testdisk, Putty, VNC Viewer , gFTP) and text editing programs (leafpad, Emacs Text editor, Meld diff and VI) to assist you in you daily tasks. There are many file systems that the kernel supports (ext2/ext3, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, fuse, iso9660). Network Filesystems (samba, fuse-smb, fuse-sshfs, nfs, and ssh). Start protecting your servers and network from crashes that hurt.

I know Fedora and Redhat are working on one but the image size is to larger, and with the way I do it. You can customize it to you specs.

DSoL has many different uses

Remote repair solution for networks that uses Linux Operating Systems.

If the problem is software based. There is no need to send a high priced technician onsite anymore. The technician  can simply walk the customer throught the Grub  boot loader. Then the technician will have full control over the  system to repair any problem.

If the problem is hard drive based. Just send a ground pounder onsite to plugin a DSoL. Then a technician can remote login through VNC Server, SSHFS, etc.
DSoL never use telnet for any reason.

An alternative Linux server that is smaller, and faster than a regular Linux install.

A tools that should be in every technician tool box.

DSoL uses a 2.6.22.6 kernel build.

DSoL comes with a modified Gnome package that I like.

Basic system tools included

GParted: Graphical Partitioning tools for Linux to format, resize, and debug an existing partition of your hard disk (ext2/3, Swap, NTFS and many other).

NTFS-3G: An open source drive, freely available NTFS driver for Linux with read and write support. It provides safe and fast handling of the Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista file systems. Most POSIX file system operations are supported, with the exception of full file ownership and access right changes.

TestDisk: A powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting your Partition Table).

Scanswap: An automounting script for Swap space. No more guess where Swap space is located.  Scanswap has alright mounted it for you. (Ex. only if the drive has a partition with swapspace on it)

ddrescue: A data recovery tool. It copies data from one file or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue data in case of read errors.

Fslint: A utility to find and clean various forms of lint on a filesystem.

At DSoL we are here to tell you the thing you need to know. Not what you want to hear.
